“There’s No Place Like Home” The unforgettable huge castle like 3-story apartment building we called home was given new meaning synonymous with anguish, frustration, humiliation, discrimination and skepticism for myself and four other families when our children were repeatedly chased out of the recreation room and pool area for no reason, as well as, being referred to by the ‘N’ word among many other atrocities. Initially we only wanted an apology. The lawyer owners of more than 30 buildings refused. The San Fernando Valley Fair Housing came to our rescue providing information, support and a legal team to advise us of our rights. They fought for us. In the end, what could have simply been a letter of apology, cost the owners a half million dollars.
Thank you Fair Housing.
